  • As I approach 60 with more aches and pains and limitations than I thought possible, I can completely understand how someone would want to end it all peacefully.

  • My heart goes out to this man. I'll be 60 next month and can't get a job cleaning toilets. Been unemployed since January 2008. Unemployment comp. benefits ran out in October. I'm too old to hire and too young to retire. I did everything "right" but it still went wrong.

  • I will be 60 next month - too old to hire and too young to retire. I have been unemployed for 15 months and my compensation ran out in October. Living off small savings. Forget about a job, people my age don't get hired, believe me, I tried so hard.

  • I watched a show last night about the building of the railroads back in the 1800s. Chinese laborers were brought in to do the construction work because they would work cheap. Does any of this sound familiar in the present day? Nothing has changed.

  • I'm already in the depression. Lost job, lost house, no health insurance, moved 1000 miles for a new job which fell through, unemployment comp. ran out in October. I'm 59 years old and it's hard enough to get a job at this age, let alone in this job market. I'm one of those who has given up.

• Should the Army exempt mothers with young children from active service?

  • I think that when a woman enlists, it is a well known fact that she could become pregnant and that should be a consideration. Face it, these are young women.

  • It won't help me because I don't have a job. My unemployment ran out in October and I have already lost my house.
